This Privacy Policy explains how Bonoverse Studios LLC ("we", "us") handles information in connection with the mobile game Buy the Dip (the "App"). We built the App to collect as little as possible.
1. Information we collect
Information you choose to provide
Display name (username): a name you pick to appear on leaderboards. It does not need to be your real name.
Email address (optional): if you choose to save your progress to an account, we store your email address so we can send you a one-time sign-in code and so you can restore your progress on another device. Signing in is entirely optional — the game is fully playable without it. We use your email only for sign-in codes and essential account messages; we do not send marketing email and we do not share or sell it.
Friends and crews: if you add friends with a friend code, we store the link between your account and theirs so we can show a friends leaderboard. If you join or create a crew, we store your membership and the crew’s name so the crew can see its shared progress.
Information collected automatically
Anonymous account identifier: the App creates a random, anonymous account ID so your scores and progress can persist. No email, phone number, or login is required to play; you may optionally link an email later, which attaches to this same account.
Gameplay data: round results you choose to post (profit/loss, percentage, the in-game asset and mode played, and timestamps) are stored with your anonymous account so they can appear on global and friends leaderboards. If you play a duel against a friend, we also store that match — the rounds played and each player’s result — and your result is shown to your opponent.
Error diagnostics: if the App runs into an unexpected error, we record a technical report (the error message, which screen it happened on, and a general device/browser description) tied to your anonymous account ID, so we can find and fix bugs. These reports contain no gameplay or personal information beyond your display name.
On-device data: your settings, in-game currency, badges, streaks, and recent rounds are stored locally on your device. If — and only if — you link an email to save your progress, a copy of this game progress is also stored on our servers with your account so you can restore it on another device. Without an account it stays on your device.
Advertising data (iPhone app, optional video ads only): the App never shows an ad unless you choose to watch a video in exchange for an in-game bonus. Those videos are provided by Google AdMob. To deliver them, Google's software in the App collects information such as your IP address (from which a general location can be inferred), device and app details, an app-specific device identifier, and how you interact with an ad. Google uses this to serve ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance, and prevent fraud. We request non-personalized ads only, and we never ask for permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites, so Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) is not made available to Google by the App.
Purchases (iPhone app): if you buy the optional Supporter pack, the payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never receive your card or payment details. The App records only that you own the pack, alongside your game progress.
2. What we do NOT collect
No real name, phone number, or password. Passwords are never created or stored — signing in uses a one-time code emailed to you.
No email address unless you choose to save your progress to an account (see section 1).
No precise or background location.
No contacts, photos, microphone, or camera access.
No cross-app tracking. We do not ask to track you across other companies' apps and websites, and the only ads are the optional, non-personalized videos described in sections 1 and 4.
No payment card or financial account information. Purchases are processed by Apple.
3. How we use information
To run the game’s core features: global, daily, weekly, and friends leaderboards, duels, crews, and saving your progress.
To maintain the integrity of the leaderboards (e.g., basic anti-abuse limits).
To find and fix bugs and crashes.
To unlock what you have bought (the Supporter pack) and to grant the bonus when you finish an optional video ad.
We do not sell your information. We do not use your email address, username, scores, or game progress for advertising, and we do not share them with advertisers. The optional video ads are delivered by Google as described in section 4.
4. Service providers
We use Supabase to host the App's backend (authentication and the database that stores usernames, scores, friend connections, and saved game progress). If you link an email, we use Resend to deliver your one-time sign-in codes; Resend receives your email address only for that purpose. Both process this data on our behalf under their own terms and security practices.
In the iPhone app, optional video ads are delivered by Google AdMob, which collects the advertising data described in section 1 directly through its own software and handles it under Google's policies; see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. If you are in a region where consent is required for ads (such as the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland), you are asked before any ad is shown and can change your choice at any time from Settings in the App. Purchases are processed by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy.
Apart from the providers named in this section, we do not share your information with third parties for their own purposes.
5. Data retention and your choices
Delete your account and data: you can permanently delete your account and all associated data — saved game progress, leaderboard standings, friends, crews, duels, and error reports — at any time from within the App (Settings → Delete my data), on our servers and on your device. You may also email us at support@bonoverse.studio to request deletion.
Sign out: if you linked an email, signing out returns the App on that device to an anonymous player. Your account and its saved progress remain until you delete them.
6. Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
7. Security
We use reasonable measures, including our service provider's access controls, to protect the limited data we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
